Summer is a great time to apply to be a school bus driver for many reasons! First off, July 7th is our 5th Annual Open House where we offer a $1,500 sign-on bonus to anyone that applies! Secondly, we have the time and resources to give applicants our upmost attention, to train and prepare them for their Commercial Driver License (CDL).
Here is the process for obtaining your CDL:
- Study and pass five (5) written tests at the Department of Motor Vehicles
- Signs, General Knowledge, Air Brakes, School Bus, and Passenger
- Pass a DOT physical and pre-employment drug screen
- Obtain your Commercial Learner’s Permit
- Train for at least two weeks (14 days)
- Test with our third party tester
- Go to the DMV, get your CDL and start driving!
Did I mention that we offer paid training? Yes, applicants get paid for their time while they train!
Currently we are looking for route drivers, substitute drivers, and trip drivers. Trip drivers are what we are very short on as the teams need to leave early to get to their destination on time. Parents who attend the games would be great for this! They can get paid to watch their kids play sports!
If someone is looking for part-time work, this is a great opportunity! I myself have driven for almost three years now, and I can say that it was a great decision! I was able to attend college and have a great flexible work schedule. I’ve been able to travel to many different locations throughout the state of Wisconsin, some that I’ve never heard of or seen before!
