Dear Parents/ Guardians:
The Iola-Scandinavia Middle and High School students will be returning to full time in person instruction 5 days a week starting on January 25, 2021. We are excited to return to this learning model so that we can continue to return to a more normal school year and help students reach their full potential.
The safety of our students, staff and community is still a priority and we will continue the protocols and procedures that have been in effect from the beginning of the school year.
Students and staff will continue to be required to wear face coverings that cover their nose and mouth.
Parents should do a symptom check before sending their child to school. Please do not send anyone to school who has the following symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, or a close contact of someone with Covid-19.
Please review all of the COVID-19 Health Measures.
In order to limit COVID exposure and the number of students who would need to quarantine due to close contact, we expect students to social distance as much as possible. Hand washing and the wearing of face coverings is a critical component. It may not be possible to socially distance in every class and situation.
Instructional Model
The School District of Iola-Scandinavia has revised the eligibility criteria for students who intend to learn virtually starting January 25, 2021. Students must meet the criteria and/or have a legitimate health concern in order to qualify for virtual learning for 2nd semester.
Students must meet all the requirements.
Positive attendance pattern (as per Wisconsin Statutes).
Show academic success on progress reports, quarter and semester grading periods.
All academic work and supplies will be picked up at school buildings as scheduled with teachers.
Students have access to reliable internet.
Students and parents communicate effectively with staff.
If at any time students do not meet the virtual learning requirements they will be required to attend school in-person and may be subject to truancy statutes outlined by the State of Wisconsin.
Quarantine- Students who are in quarantine will work collaboratively with their teachers to stay current with all of their classwork. The use of Schoology and Google will be used daily and synchronous learning may not be available.
Model changes- The Iola-Scandinavia School District would like to stay in the in person instructional model, but we are prepared to transition to other models as needed throughout the remainder of the school year. We also need your cooperation in helping students understand the importance of following the outlined procedures to ensure that we can all stay healthy and continue to learn in person.
I want to thank you all again for your cooperation, patience and understanding through this pandemic and school year. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely
Chris Nelson
Iola-Scandinavia Middle/High School Principal
